While hunger may not be rampant on our island, recent findings warn of a growing gap between those that have and those that do not.Without being alarmist, Great Barrier Island does fall into the lowest decile category in New Zealand, with half of residents getting by on less than $16,300 per annum. This compares with a median of $32,400 for the entire Waitemata/Gulf Ward.
